Legal disclaimer
LegalAI Studio provides legal information. It does not provide legal advice, and using it does not create a lawyer-client relationship.
What that distinction means
Legal information explains how the law and legal processes work in general. Legal advice applies the law to your specific facts and tells you what you should do. In Canada, giving legal advice is a regulated activity. Everything on this platform is information.
What we do not do
- We do not tell you what to do about your specific situation, matter, or dispute.
- We do not represent you before any court, tribunal, or government body, including IRCC.
- We do not review your circumstances to determine whether you qualify for anything. Calculators and checklists compute published rules against numbers you enter; they are estimates, not determinations.
- We do not guarantee that any output is current, complete, or correct for your jurisdiction.
Immigration matters
Immigration consulting in Canada is federally regulated. Paid, individualized immigration advice or representation may only be provided by a licensed lawyer, a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC), or an RISIA. Our immigration tools are self-help information for people preparing their own applications. Relying on unauthorized advice can expose you to serious consequences, including a misrepresentation finding.
AI-generated content
Some answers are generated by an AI language model. AI output can be wrong, out of date, or incomplete, and AI systems can state incorrect things confidently. We instruct the model never to invent case names, citations, or section numbers, but you must verify anything important against an official source (canada.ca, your provincial government, or CanLII) before relying on it.
If you are preparing a court filing, note that Canadian courts have sanctioned parties for submitting AI-fabricated citations, and the Federal Court requires a declaration when AI has been used to generate content in a filing.
Accuracy and coverage limits
- Employment-standards data currently covers Ontario only. Other provinces and territories are not yet loaded.
- Immigration program data is a point-in-time snapshot. Canadian immigration policy is undergoing significant change, and published rules may have shifted since our data was captured.
- Document templates are general-purpose starting points, not jurisdiction-specific instruments prepared for your matter.
When to get a licensed professional
Speak with a licensed Canadian lawyer, paralegal (in jurisdictions where paralegals are licensed), or RCIC when: a deadline or limitation period is involved; money, immigration status, employment, housing, or family matters are at stake; you have received legal documents; or you are unsure. If cost is a barrier, provincial legal aid, community legal clinics, law society referral services, and Pro Bono Ontario are starting points.
Emergencies
This platform is not for emergencies. If you are in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.
